Need Advice for Emergency Dentistry Near You?

Although dental emergencies can occur at any time of the day or night, and Dr. James is equipped to handle them in our Dallas dental clinic. We may be able to triage your concern over the telephone before coming into our office.

For example, if you’re experiencing a toothache or painful gum tissue, our Dallas dentist can provide you with advice on what to do and what not to do until you can be seen in our office. One of the most important things to remember is that you should never place painkiller tablets such as aspirin or acetaminophen directly against the irritated area since this action may cause further damage to the gum tissue.Instead, our dentist can make recommendations telephonically.

Similarly, if you’ve had a tooth knocked out, you’ll receive advice on making attempts to locate the tooth and how to prepare it for transport to our office. If possible, you can place the tooth back into the socket, but take extra care to ensure it is facing in the correct direction. If you’re not comfortable placing it back into its socket, place the tooth in a small container of milk while calling our office for further instruction. If milk is not available, wrap the tooth in a water-moistened towel.

What Your Bleeding Gums Are Trying to Tell You

If your gums are bleeding as a result of an impact-related event, please call us to receive advice on the best next steps to take while waiting to be seen in our office. And although it’s common for patients to be alarmed by bleeding gums when they brush or floss, that’s not so much an indication of a dental emergency as much as it’s your body’s way of telling you that it’s time for a dental exam and professional teeth cleaning.
