Dr. James is originally from Los Angeles, California. For her undergraduate studies she attended the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. There, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in Biology, Biological Basis of Behavior and Health Care Systems Management. It was during her time at Penn, that she realized her passion for health care and settled on pursuing a career in dentistry after shadowing dentists at the University of Pennsylvania faculty practice. She is proud to have earned a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. While at Tufts, she was a member of the Student National Dental Association, American Association for Women Dentists, and Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. After dental school, she was accepted into a General Practice Residency program at Lutheran Medical Center Brooklyn Heights Campus (now NYU Langone Dental). The residency program allowed her the chance to gain advanced training in oral surgery, and enhance her clinical skills with more complex restorative cases and the treatment of medically compromised patients. She continued to practice in New York City before moving to Dallas in 2015.
Dr. James feels that one of the great things about the science of dentistry is that it is constantly evolving and there are always new discoveries and new technologies. She continuously strives for clinical excellence by taking a wide breadth of continuing education courses in order to stay current and knowledgeable on the latest in dentistry. Dr. James is a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Dallas County Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and American Academy of Facial Esthetics.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. James enjoys spending time with her husband, Grafton, their daughter, Blaire, and Cavapoo, Buju. She spends most of her time trying out new recipes in the kitchen and working on her personal fitness. Her other favorite activities are dancing (especially tap dancing), throwing on the pottery wheel, tennis, and curling up with a good book.
